Part 1: Hardware Specialist (Months 1-3)

Month 1: PC Components & Assembly

  • Component Identification: Motherboard, CPU, RAM, GPU, PSU, Storage (SSD/HDD).
  • Safety First: Anti-static precautions and proper tool usage.
  • Build a PC: Follow a guide to assemble a computer from parts (can be done virtually if parts are unavailable).
  • BIOS/UEFI: Learn to navigate and configure basic settings.
Project: Disassemble and reassemble an old desktop computer. Document each part and its function.

Month 2: Hardware Troubleshooting

  • POST Codes & Beep Codes: Diagnosing startup failures.
  • Common Issues: PC won't turn on, random shutdowns, overheating.
  • Component Testing: Using tools to test RAM (MemTest86), power supplies, and storage health.
  • Laptop Repair Basics: Learn the challenges of compact hardware (screen, keyboard, battery replacement).

Month 3: Peripherals & Maintenance

  • Printers: Troubleshoot common laser and inkjet printer issues.
  • Monitors: Dead pixels, connection issues (HDMI, DisplayPort).
  • Physical Cleaning: Proper techniques for cleaning dust from components to prevent overheating.

Part 2: Software Specialist (Months 4-6)

Month 4: Operating System Installation & Repair

  • Windows Installation: Creating bootable USB drives and installing Windows 10/11.
  • Driver Management: Finding, installing, and troubleshooting device drivers.
  • Windows Recovery Environment: Using tools like Startup Repair, System Restore, and Command Prompt to fix boot issues.

Month 5: Virus & Malware Removal

  • Types of Malware: Viruses, Spyware, Adware, Ransomware.
  • Removal Tools: Using Malwarebytes, AdwCleaner, and antivirus software effectively.
  • Prevention: Educating users on safe browsing habits and security best practices.
  • Data Backup & Recovery: The importance of backing up data before attempting removal.

Month 6: Performance Optimization & Business Skills

  • Speeding up Windows: Disabling startup programs, cleaning temporary files, optimizing settings.
  • Data Recovery Basics: Using software like Recuva to recover deleted files.
  • Customer Service: How to communicate technical issues to non-technical clients.
Project: Take a slow, old computer, perform a full hardware and software tune-up, and document the performance improvements.
